Overview of Apprenticeships

Apprenticeships offer a unique blend of education and practical work experience, allowing you to learn a trade or profession while earning a salary. Unlike traditional education paths which usually consists of lectures and note-taking, apprenticeships focus on developing practical skills and on-the-job learning.

Apprenticeships are available for most industries (more on this on the next page), from construction and engineering to healthcare and finance. They typically last 1-5 years, depending on the level of the course. Upon completion, apprentices receive a widely recognised qualification that can lead to a full-time job within the company or even elsewhere.

Rather than spending years in a classroom just to find themselves lacking the experience they need to get a job, apprentices gain education and experience in a similar time-frame.
